A late afternoon 6km run.Route: From the Rectory, heading up Rose Lane to Simonscales Lane, over the brow of the hill and down, over the A66, onto a gravel track to Simonscales Mill. Turning right along the bank of the River Cocker, diverting slightly uphill to avoid some cows but otherwise keeping to the side of the river to Double Mills.
Crossing the footbridge and running slightly uphill round Harris Park to exit on Fern Bank and descend Gallowbarrow. Then along the riverbank path, over the footbridge on Brewery Lane, past the brewery and along the footpath through the sports centre to St Helen’s Street. Back to cross into the grassy area behind the Kirkgate Centre and onto Kirkgate and to the Swan Inn for a (£2.80!) pint, walking home afterwards.
Conditions: after a grey and drizzly day, slightly sunny.
