Callander to Glen Ogle viaduct and back

An almost linear 40 mile cycle ride with Steve on a day of heavy rain.

Route: from Poppies along the muddy narrow Rob Roy Way through the Pass of Leny to join tarmac past the Forest Village and then on increasingly stony tracks as far as Strathyre. Joining a new section of wide smooth tarmac parallel to the A84 as far as Mhor 84 for coffee. Then along a narrow, fine gravel twisting cycle track climbing gently then climbing steeply on tarmac switchbacks to gain the upper railway line and following this past the viaduct to the summit of the pass. Back to beyond the switchbacks and down to Lochearnhead for lunch. Then back on the cycle track to Strathyre and then a busy run down the A84 as far as the bridge beyond the Forest Village. North again for one mile for coffee and then back to Callander on the cycle track.

Conditions: heavy rain, as forecast, all day.

Pub: Clachan Cottage Hotel for Belhaven IPA.
