Binsey

A 4+km linear walk with Janet Hornby to escape the coronation brouhaha.

Route: Leaving one car at the obvious parking spot to the south east of Binsey and driving the other to a narrow informal lay-by by the path from near the Roman fort to High Ireby. Taking this up to the top of a ridge and bending right on an invisible, though marked on the map, track. Following this, by GPS, climbing gradually across Whittas Park to a gate into right to roam land. Surprisingly finding the gate unlocked on this occasion and then proceeding slowly more steeply uphill to the summit. Descending the obvious path to the south east to use one car to drive back to the start of the walk.

Conditions: despite a forecast of possible thundery showers, dry and even some hints of brightness.

Pub: the Ravenstone Manor Hotel (for the first time) for Corby Blonde and lunch.
